Smitten!

This past weekend we enjoyed a nice visit with Uncle Nick and his new fiance', Joelle. We are all very excited to have Joelle join our family (Nick found his perfect match). However, none of us may be as excited as Hunter. Hunter stayed by Joelle's side all weekend long. Sunday, as we sat around (snowed in) and enjoyed a good discussion over the book of James, Hunter hurried to get his play laptop (like Uncle Nick, of course), snuggled right in by Joelle, and proceeded to hold her hand, lay his head on her shoulder and gaze up at her for several seconds at a time. We couldn't believe this! Our Hunter was SMITTEN! We all said it's a good thing he isn't a few years older. Otherwise, Uncle Nick could have some stiff competition. I mean what girl could resist Hunter's little crooked smile, his big brown eyes that twinkle with joy and his charming personality. :) Anyways, Uncle Nick is safe for now. Hunter seemed to get over them having to leave pretty quickly. I guess he isn't quite ready for commitment. :) (P.S.- Joelle, I hear you may still have to watch out for Gutes, though :)

Say Cheese!

Hudson has had a rough winter so far. The entire month of January, he was fighting something...colds, ears, sinuses... So, needless to say he hasn't had much to smile about...until recently. Now that he has six whole teeth and he has begun to feel better, he has suddenly displayed a whole new personality. I first picked up on it everytime I got the camera out. I have tried to sneak pictures of him, but each time he catches me and plasters on the cheesiest smile he can come up with. The result...some really funny looking pictures. I'm thinking this all could be very telling of things to come. This guy is a nut...or maybe he's just a true cheesehead!?

"You've got a Friend in Me"

It has been fun to watch these two guys begin to form a pretty close bond with each other. Hunter has become very protective of Hudson and Hudson LOVES Hunter. We prayed that God would give Hunter a special friend and it looks like He has answered that prayer with Hudson. They may be five and a half years apart; but that doesn't seem to matter one bit. These guys are a perfect pair - a pair of NUTS!! :) And no, we have not forgotten their sister in all of this. She's the little mother hen of the bunch...ask them! :)

Happy Birthday to my Mom; our Mama!

Mom,
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you so much for being my mom. Being a mother now myself makes me appreciate you all the more. Thank you for always being there, in the good times and the bad. Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made for me through the years. Thank you for being there when I needed someone to cry with and someone to share a laugh with. You have always been an encouragement to me and the advice you have shared through the years has helped me through so much.
Now seeing you as a grandmother gives me a whole new appreciation for you. How wonderful it is to know that I can call you anytime with a problem or just a funny story from one of the kids and you are always there to listen, help or once again, just to laugh. I am so glad that you have been by my side now for each birth of our three children. Three very different experiences. I will forever cherish those memories. You have helped us get Hunter through some really difficult times. Thank you. You have advised me so wisely with Kayla,our little girl with a stubborn, strong will. Thank you. And now, you have calmed me with Hudson as I am learning what it is like to have an active little boy. Thank you. Thank you for being my mom; our mama. Happy Birthday!!!
