Scenes of Summer

We have been enjoying an unusually lush, green July. Typically by now, our yard is parched and dry. I do not wish to "rub this in" to all of you suffering through drought conditions. But, we are very thankful that the Lord allowed this summer to be so "green". It definitely helps on the water bill and it helps the house to show nicer...well, I think it does...if only we could show it to someone...Anyway, :) Rick is the one to get the credit for the nicely "weeded" landscape and

the fresh cut grass. I just took the pictures.

Kayla has found the bushes to be a perfect spot for "hide and go seek". She would be alot less noticeable if she didn't wear that "dress -up" princess gown to hide in. (Thank you MAma for giving her such a lovely garment:{!)

Hudson is starting to get into riding the tractor and Daddy has decided to give Zips a little more excercise by chasing him down with the tractor...I know...don't try this at home...nobody got hurt!

Hudson is already turning out to be a crazy driver and we end this blog with a rare moment of bliss between Hunter and Kayla. Ahhhhh..."the lazy crazy days of summer"!

Wondering What the Big Deal Is?

The theme for Hunter's summer school class is "Aquatic Animals". Each day their projects and lessons are centered around this theme. I especially loved this octopus that Hunter brought home and affectionately called, "Fido". Something about it is cute...or maybe it is what this octopus represents...answered prayers!! Hunter continues to look forward to each day of school and each day he tells of the new friends he has made. We are so grateful to the Lord for this opportunity! Thank you to all who have prayed! May these pictures represent just how happy Hunter is that your prayers were answered.

New Hope...Found!!

Today was a day filled with nervous anticipation. We awoke early to be sure we had EVERYTHING ready to go on time. We loaded up the car and headed on our way to the first day of summer school for Hunter. My mind was racing through the night wondering if Hunter was ready for this day. "Had I done enough to prepare him?" "Had we as parents made the right decision in sending him?" We arrived very early this morning giving Hunter time to look around the classroom, talk with his teacher and of course, it gave me time to get used to the idea. As I walked out the door, I paused for quite some time to watch through the window..."OH dear, this was really happening!" I know it is only summer school and it was only for a couple of hours. But, this was a monumental day that we thought would never come. Those two hours seemed to drag forever as we waited to pick him up. I kept my cell phone close at hand...just in case! Well, we arrived (early, of course) to pick him up. We found him out on the playground for recess where he was having a great time and didn't even stop to acknowledge his sister who was calling out to him repeatedly. After a story time to follow, he came out of the classroom "beaming" from ear to ear. The ride home didn't seem so long because it was filled with chatter as Hunter actually relayed to us all he could remember doing at his "first day of school". He told of his two new friends he had made. My heart filled with joy and peace flooded my soul...esp. after receiving an e-mail back from his teacher about the "Great day Hunter had at school!" I knew then that we had done the right thing. This opportunity has been worth every ounce of faith it has taken to see it through. It is worth every penny we put into our gas tank. And hopefully,...it will soon be worth a move. (we are still praying!) I know this was only the beginning and only time will tell. But, we needed this first day... a day where New Hope was Found!!

Saying Goodbye to a Dream...

Although this boat may not look like much to some, this boat meant alot to Rick. It came with its fair share of problems, but once he got it up and running, it was a long awaited dream come true. He had big plans of family trips down the river or camping out at the lake, fishing and wading in the water. But, those dreams have been laid aside for now. I write this with tears in my eyes realizing what a devoted father Rick has become. Last week he decided (all on his own) to place this boat up for sale in order to help pay for gas to get Hunter to school. Because our house has yet to sell and business for Rick is still in the growing process, the cost of gas would make things tight considering all the driving we would do in the fall. If only you knew what a huge deal this is!! To see how far God has brought Rick as a father and to see his commitment to doing whatever it takes to help Hunter in his development is such a testimony of a changed life through the power and grace of God. I only hope and pray that someday Hunter will be able to comprehend Rick's love for him and his commitment to seeing Hunter reach his God-given full potential. I know Rick does not want me writing this and praising him, but how can I as a wife help but show him in this small way my gratitude for the man he has become. I couln't feel more blessed! Thank you, Rick!!!
